Ole Miss ends great baseball season
Monday, June 12th, 2006Ole Miss wasn’t supposed to have a great baseball team this season. We lost eight players to the draft last year. However, after a rough beginning, the regular season turned out better than average. We made the SEC tournament and ended up winning it in three games. We hosted a regional for the third year in a row and won it without a loss.
This weekend we’ve been playing the University of Miami in a super regional in Oxford. Miami has a great legacy as far as baseball is concerned. Going to the College World Series is the norm for them. Ole Miss hasn’t been to the CWS since 1972.
Game 1 was on Saturday. Miami was up 9-3 after four and half innings. In the bottom of the fifth we scored six runs to tie the game. We ended up winning the game 11-9. Miami killed us in game 2. They hit several home runs to win 7-0.
