CSci223 - Spring 2005

Semester Project

Fifteen percent of your grade for this course consists of writing assignments. This assignment counts as two thirds of that fifteen percent, or ten percent of the total grade.

There are two options for this assignment. You may write a paper or write code. See below.

Paper

The paper option involves writing a paper on a topic related to one of the areas we've covered in class. See the list below for possible topics. The paper should be approximately 1000-1500 words in length and must be double-spaced. The paper should have a list of references composed of at least three sources, preferably more. At least one must be a book or paper. The paper should be submitted in PDF format by email.

Code

The code option involves writing code for a purpose and in a programming language agreed upon by the student and the instructor.

General

Students must make an appointment with the instructor on or before March 24th. During this meeting the student will pick a topic for the semester project. The student and instrcutor will discuss what is expected out of the project for it to be considered a success.

A list of possible topics can be found below. These are just suggestions, other topics can be chosen.

This assignment is due at class time on April 27th. It will be considered late at 11am on April 28th. The grade will go to zero at 2:00pm on May 2nd. Students with questions about the assignment should see the instructor.

A few of the projects will be chosen to be posted on the class web site. Questions on these projects will be on Exam III.
